It will be fun, we said. We can make it happen, we said. We're not afraid of anything....... we said. We got this!
Sometimes We Just Have To do What We Have To Do
and what we have to do is go full time in an RV, sell the house and almost everything in it....
So here we are with an opportunity to buy a 43.5 Foot long 5th wheel toy hauler and travel..... Why not? Why shouldn't we? Nothing is stopping us and life is short. Lets go make some memories, lets load up Molly our Jack Russell Terrier🐶 and the Harley and chase the sun!
We scramble to pay off some bills and save some money - We have six months to make it happen. No problem, no stress - right?
Just a little about us; Bob and I met a little later in life, we are both widowed and we are now both retired. Bob was a Deputy👮, pushed around a patrol car and then taught at the Police Academy. I sold Real Estate👱, peddled properties and drove around all day showing houses. We needed to be together so Bob sells his house, some of his things and brings everything he owns to my house. Our relationship is a "gift" and we embark on a life together....💙
The planning begins to have a couple yard sales to get rid of our extra stuff, as I begin dragging things from closets and going through boxes and drawers I find that this isn't going to be as easy as I thought. So I plow ahead and we hold our very first yard sale and make about $200. We are proud of ourselves and we sold some stuff.... Yay us!
Now we get serious and really dig into closets and boxes, we now realize that this is going to take some serious work. OK, we are ready and we drag it all out to the driveway on tables to sell... it rains, not just rain it is a constant heavy at times drizzle☂, I scramble to get anything that could be ruined under the cover - now I'm truly challenged, I'm unhappy and I'm complaining but people come and they buy so I begin to smile a little.
I might add that Bob is as steady as ever, doesn't get rattled, keeps his cool and just visits with the people, I on the other hand just want their money and want them to leave... Needless to say I'm not as patient as Bob is.
Finally the 2nd yard sale is done, everything is wet but again we made about $200 and we are encouraged once again with our efforts.
As I look around the house at the piles in every corner, the dust bunnies and the stuff we need to get rid of I'm a bit overwhelmed. I mean really, how many spatulas, towels and pillows do we have?
Ya, it's April and it rains a lot in Portland Oregon.... do I want to plan another yard sale or wait until the weather people are a bit more confident in a sunny day? We decide to wait and we live among the cardboard boxes and piles of our belongings and it rains, storms and rains some more with no sunny days in sight😊
We have begun the process, our eyes are on the ultimate goal of freedom and riding our Harley in the sun.... Are we ready? Maybe, maybe not but we are moving forward.
Remember up in my third paragraph I said we would hold a "couple" yard sales? Ya, well I'm beginning to think maybe four or five and then the biggie to sell the furniture...
So happy and proud of both of you! Now go make some new memories!
ReplyDeleteWe sure have worked hard and still are to make this happen.... and we are pretty excited to be underway!
DeleteNow it's time to reveal your travel plans (if you have any yet)
ReplyDeleteI've been to almost every state in the 'lower 48', so I might be able to help.
